Home Depot Makes 7,000 Hygiene Kits for Veterans in One Day!
On April 12, 2016, more than 250 volunteers built four houses with HabiJax & assembled 7,000 hygiene kits with Volunteers of America Florida. The kits will be distributed to veterans in need throughout the state of Florida.
"We are all one decision away from being homeless ourselves," said Robert Irvin, U.S. Army veteran and program manager for Volunteers of America Florida, speaking about the homeless veterans we help.
The volunteers, alongside formerly homeless veterans who have been helped by Volunteers of America Florida, packed about 7,000 welcome home kits, which include basic hygiene items. The kits will be given to veterans across Florida who receive Volunteers of America services.
A representative with Home Depot said the company is devoted to doing what they can for veterans as more than 35,000 employees have served in the military.
