John's Story
My name is John.
I have three brothers and five sisters and my mom works really hard to take care of all nine of us. She was worrying about us all the time and especially about our schooling and day care since she has to work two jobs sometimes.
She was really happy when she found the Volunteers of America child care and after school program. Now she knows we are safe and off the streets. She knows that we are learning and doing homework and school projects. She doesn’t worry anymore about how to keep her job and take care of us at the same time.
I don’t know what she would have done without Volunteers of America, but I’m glad she found them because I like going to the program and seeing my friends. I’m happy too that we can stay together as a family now that my mom can take care of us all.
